First graders were introduced to Van Gogh and his "The Starry Night" painting. Students first made the background by adding a moon and swirl lines using oil pastel. Students then went over the pastel with liquid watercolor and filled in all of the white space. The next art class, students used black paper and construction paper crayons to create their own modern-day cities in the bottom.
